AlphaInsights

Alpha-synuclein is a protein primarily found in the brain, playing a key role in neuronal function. In Parkinson's disease (PD), it misfolds and forms aggregates known as Lewy bodies, which are hallmark features of the condition. We are keen on exploring the protein structure and function by comparing different model organisms such as the yeast types Saccharomyces cerevisae and Pichia Pastoris. Additionally we’re studying various post translational modifications and how they influence the protein structure. By doing so we hope to gain insights into the pathology and have a positive impact on alpha synuclein research.
