HOW TO GET INVOLVED WITH A PROJECT

Sometimes projects are looking for new members. Others will be happy to chat with you about their work. Been invited to join an existing team? Get ready to grow together in our friendly, open community.

Sign up for a Project Support onboarding to become a member and officially join the team. This is required to use the SPH co-working space and be part of our community.

Projects

3D Printer Kit
The Project 3D Printer Kit aims to provide Makerspace users with an instruction manual for constructing a 3D printer using materials available at SPH Makerspace. The manual will detail the specific SPH machines and tools required for the assembly. Additionally, it will guide users on how to acquire components not stocked in the Makerspace shop, such as extruders and electronic boards. This project aims to offer ETH students a platform for learning about and delving into 3D printer design....
Acrylic LED Sign
Combine laser cutting and soldering into a custom LED sign. Make an interesting sign that can be fully customized to say whatever you want it to. General Information Costs for the Materials: CHF 40Time to build: 90min What you do This project guides you through engraving your custom sign unto an acrylic sheet. Macropad with Raspberry Pi
Make a custom macropad with all the shortcuts you need. This project will teach you how to combine 3D printing and your electronics knowledge to create a useful tool for your computer. General Information Costs for the Materials: CHF 9Time to build: 60min What you do This project guides you through building a custom macropad with a Raspberry Pi Pico—a small, programmable keyboard that can run shortcuts and commands for tasks like editing, coding, or gaming. The Pico acts as the microcontroller, with mechanical switches wired to it and programmed using Thonny. Plant IoT Sensor
Learn to make your own plant moisture sensor and connect it to a simple overview. This project will teach you how to use your electronics knowledge to create a useful tool for your household. General Information Costs for the materials: CHF 6.60Time to build: 30min What you do This project aims to monitor the moisture level of a plant to prevent both dehydration and overhydration. Through the use of a capacitive soil sensor we can measure the humidity/moisture level in the plant’s soil and present it in a real-time custom dashboard. That way, we can also set up automatic notifications to water the plants when needed.
