ETH Students Turn Ideas into Reality with Digital, AI and Physical Systems

As the tools of making become more capable with AI, students face new choices about what and how they create, what they trust, and how deeply they want to understand the technology behind it.

To give students more ways to explore and bring their ideas into practice, the Student Project House is launching the Digital and AI Makerspace, where digital, AI, and physical systems come together. In the new Digital and AI Makerspace, students take their curiosity further through making, drawing on capabilities ranging from software and data, to the orchestration of digital, AI, and physical systems alongside 3D printers, and traditional fabrication tools.

Making with Digital and AI at SPH

Digital and AI tools are becoming part of everyday making, but simply using them only scratches the surface. At SPH students keep understanding, controlling and critically thinking at the centre of how they use new tools and resources in their making.

Developing the Maker and Innovator Mindset

A maker and innovator mindset takes shape when students’ curiosity, drive, passion, and perspective meet the right conditions. SPH creates those conditions through experimentation, early prototyping, peer coaching and a community inspired by new perspectives and unexpected encounters.

You can shape the future beyond technical barriers. AI and digital tools are allowing students to push the boundaries of what they can explore and build. Curiosity, domain depth, and critical judgement are what turn ideas into meaningful innovation.
