Programs

Our generic programs have a duration of 6-10 weeks and run on a yearly basis. They are open to any topic and any discipline.

The Hatchery

During the ETH Week, you will go through a process that starts with finding a relevant problem to solve and ends with a mock-up prototype of your solution. We don’t want you to stop there, but take you a step further! Over the course of 10 weeks, we will support you in developing your idea into a functional prototype that you can show and test with potential implementation partners. Bring your solution to life, be it as a start-up, a research project or even your future doctoral thesis.

Unbox your Idea

Propose an idea or join another team. Experience the first phases of a product development process.

We will guide you through the fuzzy front end of a product development process. During input workshops and in hands-on sessions with the coaches you will learn to apply state-of-the-art methods in idea development and prototyping. The process consists of the following four main phases:

Host your Event in the Student Project House

The Student Project House is designed to host interactive events. We welcome events related to making, teamwork, coaching, entrepreneurship and other topics that can inspire and help our student community. We also have some capacity to host project-oriented ETH courses, especially in the mornings and until 3pm. Our open space is great to foster creativity and spontaneous encounters. The event spaces Stage One, Stage Two and Foyer can be booked via our reservation page. Please be aware that these spaces are just sections of our open space and therefore not suitable for long input sessions or confidential discussion.

If you have any questions to the space and your reservation, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our Space

In the HPZ building we have created a space for collaborative student project work, making, interdisciplinary exchange, courses and workshops.

The Student Project House hosts many events:

  • Our own events
  • Student project events (meetings, presentations etc.)
  • External events

If you are considering the Student Project House as a venue for your event, proceed to the Event registration page.

Improve your Skills

Would you like a crash-course on a how to build and convince with prototypes, how to use sketching to present your ideas or how to use social media to reach out with your idea? We will teach you the skills to succeed in your endeavors. We regularly hold workshops on diverse topics. If you would like to know more about a specific topic – just let us know, we are open to your suggestions!

ETH Courses

The ETH Zurich offers a number of courses that support project-based learning, offer students insights into product design, innovation and entrepreneurship. Joining one of these courses is a neat way to learn and practice the skills and methods you need to run your own project and maybe the ideal place to get started. Some of the ETH courses in this field are hosted in the Student Project House during the Pilot Phase or are otherwise supported by us, providing access to Makerspace as well as skilled student coaches and Makerspace experts.
